Cultural Week

There are 36 different languages spoken by our families in the CUC building. Last week allowed us to celebrate the culturally rich and diverse community we have and learn about each others cultures.

Students participated in a range of workshops last week to celebrate Culture week, including inclusive and diversity focused topics.

CELLS (The Choices, Education, Learning, Life-long skills) delivered a workshop around crime & prevention and domestic violence experienced by individuals from cultural backgrounds.

Courtney Fry, a British former Boxer who competed in the Olympic Games, spoke with our students and shared his experiences growing up, being a troublemaker, and how he turned to boxing aged 15 to keep him out of trouble. He discussed his career change to a Youth Worker, where he helps vulnerable people in life.

Our students were also treated to a selection of food from various countries around the world which helped students to learn about cultural identity.

We also encouraged students to wear their own clothes to celebrate their cultural heritage which allowed their peers to ask them cultural related questions.
