Biology Week

From the 8th to the 18th of October, we celebrated Biology Week at Liverpool Life Sciences UTC and The Studio School.

We showcased this year's Francis Crick Prize Lecture: Pathogens and the power of evolution, to Sixth Form students with an interest in Biology and a selection of Scholar students. The lecture focussed on what Professor Kayla King and her team's research means for predicting how pathogens evolve and become more harmful in today's changing world.

Throughout the week, we also promoted the Biology Week: ASAB 2026 Infographic Competition, where we asked our students to convey information using both words and images by designing a poster regarding animal behaviour or multiple species of non-human animals. Category winners will have their infographics featured in the journal Animal Behaviour. Pictured is student, Manuela's, competition entry "Sea Angel."

Students in Project Based Learning also sketched and coloured their entries, or used graphics and display packages, or a mixture of the two. Several of our visiting Spanish students also joined in the fun.

22 selected works have been entered into the competition, including “Bison Charge” by Molly in Year 12, and an entry from one of our Spanish Visitors, Inez.

Congratulations and well done to all who took part!
