In glorious sunshine, students investigated whether psammosere primary succession is taking place at Formby Beach.
Working in groups, they collected data on vegetation height, biodiversity, dune shape and height, and soil characteristics across the dune system.
The students were hardworking, motivated, and enthusiastic throughout the day, showing excellent fieldwork skills and teamwork.
The evidence gathered will help students answer their enquiry questions and deepen the understanding of coastal environments and succession. This will give students an excellent starting point for their own A-level NEA research projects which will be starting soon.
It was an enjoyable and successful day for everyone.
