Reflecting on his experience, Pawel, a Year 13 Studio student, shared “I learned a lot about how lucrative a degree apprenticeship can be, getting a very high salary within a couple of years. It was interesting to see how the application process is less about grades and more about the individual, seeing the potential in them regardless of academic potential. It was also interesting to see the variety of professions Sellafield employs beyond what you would initially expect from a company working in the nuclear sector.” Pawel noted that after the presentation he felt compelled to research the apprenticeships and programmes available at Sellafield and may apply for a vacancy.
Ben, a Year 13 student, shared the positive impact of listening to Joe, an alumni student of ours who currently works at Sellafield, saying “Joe’s story shows that university doesn’t have to be absolute and there are other options available. It also shows that although degree apprenticeships are competitive, they are not impossible.” He explained “I took away how to have a competitive application and succeed in interviews, I should stay calm and collected and link any questions given to my past experience in said field.”
Big thanks to Mark and Joe from Sellafield for delivering such an impactful informative session to our students!
