On Wednesday, three Year 12 students visited employer partner Alfred H Knight (AHK) in Prescot to receive their awards for the outstanding level of skill they demonstrated during the AHK Lab Metalytics Challenge before half-term. AHK is a global company with labs that use a range of analytical chemistry techniques to test and inspect materials.
Delight, Elisheba and Darcy received trophies from their UK Laboratory Manager, Dr Nikolaos Kapakoglou. They were commended for their outstanding technical skill as well as showing superb resilience, problem-solving, the questions they asked and the curiosity they displayed during the live skills challenge.
After receiving their trophies, the students were given a laboratory health and safety induction in preparation for their week-long work experience placements in the X-Ray Fluorescence department later this month.
