Most people start with a college course or apprenticeship in a related subject, such as art and design, conservation, or construction. Some choose to study for a degree in conservation, heritage, fine art, or furniture restoration.
In the UK, a restoration specialist just starting out might earn around £20k-£25k per year. With more experience, salaries can rise to between £30k and £40k. Hightly skilled specialist, especially those working on rare or valuatble items or managing projects, can earn over £45k a year.
